Meet Sandra Carmody, this week’s featured dealer at Stone House!
“I love the design and history of Civil War era pieces. The research involved has led to me latest love, which is ephemera. Antique photographs, books and historical documents provide an amazing rich history.
I bought my first antique as a child of six and looked forward every year after to our small town's annual antique auction. Throughout the years, I decorated the houses we lived in with antiques. After retirement I had more time to devote to antique hunting. Selling these items has allowed me the luxury of having beautiful old treasures in my home, and the opportunity to make frequent changes my decor. wish I could keep it all!”
When we asked her what her advice was for home decorators, said: “I recommend using the new with the old to create an interesting blend of textures, styles and colors. There's no need to be limited by one era or style. Your space can be a reflection of the things that are both comfortable and beautiful to you personally.”
And her current favorites at stone House right now? Gordon's Whirlygigs. “They succeed at the amazing feat of blending what is old with color and motion.”

Get to know our amazing dealers! Gordon McNeil developed an absolute passion for folk art antiques from a very young age. Having retired from his business a few years ago, he became a full time antique dealer in a brick and mortar store as well as having an online store. His absolute favorite design era / style is Folk Art / Primitive.
More from Gordon: "Works of Folk Art are artistically uninhibited and are not constrained by the dictates of mainstream art. Some of the most exciting examples invariably display an original quality which in there own way are so unique they will inspire viewers to be come collectors.
My advice to anyone thinking of designing an area is to one, add some color to the room ie put a hand woven rug with many colors, they add a great accent to the room. Secondly mix up the room with modern and vintage furniture they do most of the time go together. Thirdly by a piece of Folk Art to display as an individual piece. There really is no need to build a room around one piece."
Right now his favorite piece in the store is the two Carnival / Carousel Horses that have just come in! "The design shows the skill of the craftsmen plus the incredible age patina with that wonderful crackle paint."
