Steve will also be exhibiting at Roycroft Winter Festival in December. "Roycroft" is a very important show for the Arts & Crafts collectors. Elbert Hubbard founded the most successful and long-lived Roycroft Arts & Crafts community in East Aurora, NY in 1895. The Roycroft didn’t survive the stock market crash of 1929 but its tenet of “working with the head, hand and heart” lives on in Arts & Crafts Revival artisans today encouraging dedicated craftsmen to become a part of the Roycroft Renaissance, a revival group of artists based on the high standards of quality workmanship of the original Roycrofters who were huge contributors to the Arts and Crafts era in furniture with similar lines of Stickley, but also had artists working in hand-wrought copper, publishing and other quality crafts. The Roycroft Winter Festival is a show you don’t want to miss.
Steve Blakely lives near Doylestown and hand crafts his pottery in Flemington NJ in the studio of John Fulwood, Kissimmee River Pottery at the Historic Stangl Factory. His pottery is available at the Stone House Antiques Center and Hendrixson’s Furniture Stickley showroom in Furlong PA.
