Artist Bruce Lindsay from Stone House Antiques Center just installed a new sculpture project on Governor's Island NYC.
The concept is "cast & place", using local renewable resources (clay dredged from the Hudson River, aluminum from crushed cans) to produce the 10' x 10' x 10' structure. Clay slip was set into wood frames and allowed to dry, making a cracked clay bed effect. Molten aluminum was then poured into the earth molds to produce the 10' panels.
The installation is at the northwest tip of the island, with Battery Park as a backdrop.
